Robins Home Learning

To help your child at home, you are asked to complete home learning each week:

  • Maths and Times Tables:
  • A fantastic tool to help support your child with Maths is White Rose Maths' 1-minute maths app: It has individual one-minute tasks that focus on ‘Subitising’, the skill of instantly recognising the number of items in a group without counting, addition & subtraction and multiplication & division. They answer a unique series of questions (so it’s a different set of questions every time). If they’re struggling with a question, a ‘Hint’ button will give a helpful clue by showing the question in a different but familiar way.  When the one minute’s up, they’ll see a feedback screen telling them how they’ve done.
  • White Rose Maths have also created a full compliment of free maths workbooks that can be downloaded to practise at home!.
  • Alongside singing Percy Parker songs, Hit the button is a very useful game for practising times tables.  By the end of year 4 children should know all times tables to 12x12 by heart. Children sit the National Multiplication Check in June.   Mathsframe offer a practice tool that is useful for children to use at home.

  • Spellings:
  • Please help your child with their spelling practise. Tests will be every week on a Monday.
  • Century Learning:

  • There are plenty of quizzes and tests to do on Century Learning. Please feel free to do these as much as you can. I will be setting up additional tasks which will support your child's learning. If your child is finding things tricky in class, we might set them some additional tasks to do at home to help them but this would be discussed with you in advance. If your child cannot remember their passwords for each of these websites, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Take a look at the RKE sheets below - these relate to our current learning in school.  Your child should already know the R (Remember) section as this relates to previous learning that they have completed.  The K (Know) section focusses on the learning that they will do within this unit of work.  The E (Explore) section has some ideas that you could do or discuss at home to support learning.  If your child is finding it hard to recall their prior learning, you might be asked to support this at home to help them be ready for the new learning that they are about to complete.
