About Us
Fernhurst Primary School is a single-form entry school for up to 210 pupils situated in the heart of the village and a local area of outstanding natural beauty. We offer large, light, bright classrooms equipped with interactive white boards and all with direct access to outside space. We have a large hall where we hold assemblies, concerts, plays and productions as well as being the space where we serve hot lunches. The school is lucky to be situated within large grounds offering a wide variety of different outdoor learning environments including an extensive playground, a small orchard, an adventure playground, a wooded area and a large playing field.
Fernhurst Primary School has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the children mix well through the year groups as well as with their own peers. To support this we operate a house system, our houses being Thunburg, Attenborough, Muir and Tree - all named after environmentalists. On entry to school each child is given a house to represent and can gain house points throughout the year.
We have strong ties with the village community including St Margaret's Church, the Revels Committee, the Fernhurst Centre and the local Scouts. We also maintain good links with Rother Valley Schools as well as our fellow schools within the University of Chichester Academy Trust.
We are proud of our school and look forward to welcoming you to it.
